The historic market town of Garstang is located at the heart of Lancashire, within striking distance of iconic Blackpool, the Lake District and the Forest of Bowland. The historic market town
With Neolithic and Bronze Age artefacts, the medieval “weinds” (narrow, named alleyways) leading from the High Street, and nearby Greenhalgh Castle built in the 1400s, the historical allure of Garstang is undisputed. Garstang was mentioned in the Domesday Book, known then by its Anglo-Saxon name of Cherestanc. Almost a thousand years later, this was the name given to Garstang’s new square when it was unveiled in 2009: Cherastanc Square.
Since 1310, Garstang has held a weekly market every Thursday, and the Market House is also open Wednesday to Saturday with plenty of local produce on offer.
